Salami is characterised by its white exterior and is among the sausages that have undergone a curing process. In fact, it is a variant of the sliced sausage in that a different spice pallet has been used. In the Netherlands, this is in almost all cases by adding garlic to the product.

Salami is a dry sausage of Italian origin. Salami is made from different parts of the pig, often the shoulder and neck, but the fattier cuts of meat are also needed for the ultimate salami.

We add garlic and other spices to our salami, giving it its distinctive flavour. We offer salami under our own Compaxo brand and our budget Slagershuis brand.

Salami is available in bulk or sliced form. But also as a snack article, for example in the form of sticks, balls or as a full sausage. For meal applications, we also offer salami in cubed form.

The Italian word is the plural form of salame, meaning ‘salted meat’. In the Netherlands and Belgium, salami has been offered by butchers since the 1920s.
The possibilities for salami in dishes are endless; a traditional slice for on bread or in smaller calibre on a pizza, as a meal component in salads, for example, or in the form of cubes or as a snack.
